The world's best and worst places to live

(CNN)Yet again, the Nordic countries have dominated a list of the world's most desirable places to live.
But before the rest of us get too jealous, the experts warn that the Nordics shouldn't sit back and relax just yet.
The UK-based Legatum Institute has just released its annual Prosperity Index, which ranks 142 countries across 89 variables under eight sub-indexes: the economy; entrepreneurship and opportunity; governance; education; health; safety and security; personal freedom; and social capital.

Scandinavia is doing great but not that great

For the seventh consecutive year, Norway topped the list as the most prosperous country in the world.
It scored the highest in many variables including "trust in others," "satisfaction with freedom of choice," "civil liberty and free choice" and "satisfaction with standard of living."
Denmark and Sweden came third and fifth.
Finland and Iceland ranked ninth and 12th on the list.
On the flip side, the research company says that the Nordics still have some catching up to do.
Economy-wise, they haven't been doing as well as many other advanced countries.
Among the top 20 most prosperous countries, Finland and Iceland are the only countries whose economy sub-index ranks outside the top 30.
Norway, Sweden and Finland have all seen their economy ranking slip in recent years.

    China is rich, not prosperous

The strongest economy is Singapore, which ranked 17th in the overall Prosperity Index.
The city-state performed well overall. It appeared in the top 15 for all except two sub-indexes: personal freedom and social capital.
China came third in terms of economy, but remained relatively low in the overall ranking: 52nd place.

It came a poor 100th place on safety and security and 120th on personal freedom.
"The Prosperity Index is an answer to a problem," said the Prosperity Index's program director, Nathan Gamester, during the launch ceremony.
"The way we've traditionally measured how successful countries are is too narrow."
"Of course wealth is important but it doesn't tell the whole story."
Indonesia is the index's biggest success story.
In the past seven years it has moved up 21 places to 69th position -- the fastest mover on the list.

    The world's getting more dangerous

Another key finding of the annual index is that the world has become a more dangerous place since the survey was first carried out in 2009.
Africa and the Middle East have witnessed major decline in the safety and security sub-index.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Afghanistan and Syria were named the most dangerous places in the world. Their overall prosperity rankings are 137th, 141st and 136th respectively.
The United States (no.11 in the overall ranking) is the most unsafe country among the chart's top countries, taking the 33rd spot.
The report says the United States is the only western country to register "high levels of state-sponsored political violence" -- a level of 3 (on a 1 to 5 scale), equivalent to countries such as Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador.
The index also quotes Amnesty International's report that the United States has the same level of political violence as Saudi Arabia.
Hong Kong was hailed as the safest place in the world for the third year in a row.

    10 most prosperous countries

Norway has been ranked once again as the world's most prosperous country.
    1. Norway
    2. Switzerland
    3. Denmark
    4. New Zealand
    4. Sweden
    6. Canada
    7. Australia
    8. Netherlands
    9. Finland
    10. Ireland

    10 least prosperous countries

Central African Republic is ranked the least prosperous country.
    142. Central African Republic
    141. Afghanistan
    140. Haiti
    139. Chad
    138. Burundi

Oba Adeyeye is best described as an astute entrepreneur driven by turning impossibilities to ‘possibilities’. The Young Prince’s power of imagination has set him aside, hence, revolutionizing his approach to creativity and innovation. He is a distinct achiever with the conscience of youthful excellence.

Many youths till date are beneficiaries of Oba Adeyeye’s scholarship platform.

Eaglets are Champions, win FIFA U-17 World cup again

For the fifth time the Nigerian Golden Eaglets became only the second side to retain the FIFA U-17 World Cup with a 2-0 win against Mali in Vina Del Mar. Nigeria won in 1985, 1993, 2007, 2013, and now in 2015 in Chile.
The Nigerian team won the maiden edition of FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1985 in China, the fifth edition of the tournament in 1993 in Japan, the twelfth edition of the tournament in 2007 in South Korea, the fifteenth held in the United Arab Emirates 2013 and again the sixteenth in Chile 2015.
Victor Osimhen stole the show once again thanks to his record-breaking tenth goal of the tournament, with Funsho Bamgboye adding a second moments later. Samuel Diarra had saved an early Osinachi Ebere penalty as the Malians played their part in an entertaining finale to Chile 2015.

The penalty came as both sides were just finding their rhythm in the opening exchanges, Chato the culprit with a handball. Ebere saw his low effort saved brilliantly by Diarra, the No17’s follow up header hit the bar before a third bite of the cherry was blocked by the Malian defence.
    Watch Highlights

Both sides had chances in a tense opening period, with Golden Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali hitting just wide and Boubacar Traore seeing his glancing header tipped over by Akpan Udoh.
The second half saw the game burst into life, with Emmanuel Amuneke’s words clearly working their magic on the Nigerian youngsters. Osimhen shrugged off the challenge of Mamadou Fofana before hitting a wonderful dipping half volley towards goal, which Diarra spectacularly saved. Udochukwu Anumudu then smashed a thunderous effort at goal, which rebounded back off the crossbar and was cleared away.
Mali did not heed those warnings. Good approach play by substitute Chinedu Madueke saw him tee up Osimhen for his record-breaking goal, seeing him surpass the nine goals scored by Florent Sinama Pongolle in 2001 and Souleymane Coulibaly ten years later.
The holders doubled their advantage mere minutes later, with Bamgboye bursting down the Nigerian left before smashing a powerful effort at goal, Diarra standing little chance.
Despite a couple of late chances for Mali, from corner kicks, Nigeria retained possession for large spells and saw the game out to retain their crown. The jubilant scenes on the final whistle in Vina Del Mar will surely live long in the memories of these Nigerian heroes of the present, some of whom may just become the stars of the future.

Taraba judgement: Violence erupts in Wukari

    Darius Ishaku, Taraba State Governor
Barely 24 hours after the Taraba State Elections Petition Tribunal nullified the election of the state governor, Darius Ishaku, violence has erupted in Wukari area of the state.
Taraba is one of the northern states that has witnessed high amount of ethno-religious crisis in the last few years, with Wukari being a major spot for violence.
Reports say Sunday’s crisis started following celebrations and protests for and against the court ruling, delivered in favour of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Aisha Alhassan.
A resident of the town who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES on phone, Kawu Musa, said the crisis broke out after some touts took advantage of the anti-ruling protests to unleash mayhem.
He said some residents fled their homes to the bush for safety, adding that gunshots rent the air earlier in the day before the deployment of security agents to restore order.
“They just started firing sporadically, chanting war songs, we have to flee,” Mr. Musa said.
It was, however not clear the extent of destruction or if there were casualties as at the time of this report.
The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the incident, saying soldiers and a detachment of police officers from the state command and other neighbouring divisions were promptly deployed to the town.
He said law and order had been restored in the affected areas.
The Taraba election tribunal on Saturday nullified the election of Mr. Ishaku mainly on the grounds that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary that produced him was held after the deadline approved by the electoral commission, INEC; and was thus illegal. The tribunal ordered that Mrs. Alhassan be sworn in as governor.
The PDP and the Mr. Ishaku have, however, indicated their intention to challenge the ruling at the Court of Appeal which by Nigerian law means the current governor will still continue in office.
